First, I want to say what a joy it has been to be a part of the growth and changes at Twist Image. It's been an awesome journey with some wonderful peeps and a great list of awesome Canadian brands. In the year and half I've been there, we've gone from having no Strategy group to having one of the best Strategy/Planning teams in the industry. I'll admit that as Director of Strategy I might be a bit biased but I'd pitch my team against any team in Toronto. They truly rock.
A few weeks back, I had to make a big decision. I chose to accept an offer to be VP, Digital Communications at Thornley Fallis. I start on the 13'th and am really looking forward to working with them to expand their digital and integrated offerings.
Now I need to eat some crow.
While my title does not contain the words "Social Media" (because I would have been flamed alive), I do need to come clean and say that a large practice of the team I will be working on is just that - Social Media.
So while I still don't think we should hire "social media strategists", it's only fair to conclude that much of my argument is and was flawed. I would continue to argue that Social Networks are a media channel and that Social Media is in fact not, but it is likely a semantic argument at best.
I may just end up in the 40 over 40 list. But I'll leave that to Gavin to decide. ;)
Let the flames commence. I deserve them.

Yay - we both have digital in our titles! But you are a VP which I assume means if the president is assasinated you step in?
Big congrats to you

Congrats on the new gig. You'll always be a CrapHammer to me (Digital or Social).
Leaving one winning team to engage with another - nice!

LOL.
Have no fear. There are SVP's between Me and the Pres. Now... if someone were to take out ALL the upper management... ;)

Hey Mike!
Thanks man.
This means a lot coming from the man who made Craphammer famous in the first place. I do believe you were the crazy man who first included it in the Z List. Remember that???
Sean

Definitely remember the Z-List (that was a long time ago)! And if I was one who committed inclusion - it was only because I wanted to share you with others:-) Go get 'em

Oh you should certainly be on that 40 over 40 list!
But I think you now have to remove yourself from the social over social list. Now that you've signed up ;)
Congrats on the new gig - don't suppose they're opening an office in Sydney anytime soon?

LOL. Thanks Gavin!
And I'll be sure to mention the Sydney office to Joe Thornley next time I see him. ;)

Dude, you rock man! Hope you have a blast while we kick your ass in all these pitches. :)
Won't be the same without you, Sean. But I know you'll be great at the TF, as usual. I'll just sit here and quietly envy your big corner office. :)
